Two men, each with a dream. Dreams that push the boundaries of time or performance. One of them was on the clay, with his eyes on the ball; The other turned his face to time itself, his heart beating wildly.

Yet both combine technique, harmony, and accuracy while withstanding the hard knocks and inevitable impacts of sporting life.

For Rafael Nadal, the word "unstoppable" best expresses the spirit of Richard Mille and his team.

Achieve the impossible. This has been the brand's mantra for the past decade in designing the unique garments worn by Spaniards on the world's tennis courts.

The latest product from their collaboration, the RM 27-04, is no exception. Equipped with a hand-wound movement suspended from a dense network of steel cables within the case, the RM 27-04 has the highest shock resistance of any Richard Mille watch, weighing in at approximately 12,000 grams. Its case is carbon composite, which, combined with its skeletonized movement, means it weighs as much as several sheets of paper.

The RM 27-04 takes the cable-suspended movement concept first used in the RM 27-01 and takes it even further. Like a tennis racket, the RM 27-04 movement is held in place by a grid of intertwined steel wires just 0.27 mm in diameter. The wires are first secured by a rose gold turnbuckle at 5 o'clock, then crisscross the movement, in and out of the bezel 38 times, and finally secured by another gold turnbuckle at 10 o'clock - all completed by Horology Carpenter.

The movement is in turn fixed to the wire mesh via five titanium hooks, which are screwed to the underside of the base plate.
